Tip # 1
“Sleep as much as needed to feel refreshed and healthy during the day, but not more. Excessively long times in bed may make sleep more fragmented and shallow. Most people need eight to nine hours of sleep every 24 hours.” John L. Eickholt, MD
What does this mean for you?
Do you want to sleep well every night, and feel awake during every day?
How do you decide when to go to bed at night? Is it when you feel tired? If you’re struggling with sleep, that designated time could be too early or too late for your optimal sleep schedule.
If you have to wake up at a certain time in the morning, strive to go to bed eight hours before that time. If you go to bed too late, you have taken away the opportunity to get enough sleep. If you go to bed too early, you run the risk of too much time in bed. This may seem like a luxury, but it can decrease the quality of sleep.
You may be thinking this sounds great, if only you were able to fall asleep at the appropriate time. Am I right? We will get to that – I promise! Check back later for more tips.
